When I think back to how Bikinis By Bridget began, it all started with one simple question from a friend, “Can you make me a bikini?”
At the time, I had always loved creating things by hand. I learned to sew from my abuela in Mexico City and spent my childhood experimenting with fabrics, sketching designs, and even making my own prom dress just for fun. Sewing was my creative escape, something that connected me to my roots and allowed me to express myself.
A close friend mentioned how she could never find a bikini that fit her body just right. She wanted something flattering, unique, and comfortable, something that made her feel confident. She knew I could sew, so she asked if I could try making one for her.
It was my first time making a bikini, and I remember spending hours perfecting the fit, adjusting every seam and strap until it looked and felt perfect. When she finally tried it on, her reaction said it all, she couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing how confident and beautiful she felt in something I had created completely changed the way I viewed my passion.
That was the moment I realized I could turn my love for sewing into something bigger, a way to help other women feel that same spark of confidence.
What started as a hobby in my basement, making custom bikinis one by one for friends, quickly grew into something I could have never imagined. Word spread, and soon I was sewing non-stop, meeting women, taking their measurements, helping them choose fabrics and colours that made them feel their best.
Six weeks later, I had sold over 150 bikinis, all handmade, all designed to empower women to love their bodies and embrace who they are.
That first custom bikini changed everything for me. It was the beginning of Bikinis By Bridget, a brand built on creativity, culture, and confidence, dedicated to making women feel beautiful, bold, and completely themselves.
